The Palouse in Black & White
The Palouse is a region in Eastern Washington State with a unique landscape made from 25,000 years of blowing dunes. It is a major wheat growing region, with a quiet, minimal quality to the land.
It was the only tree for miles.
Was it a volunteer? A former home site?
Why was it left to grow?
In the Palouse, this is how you decorate your driveway....
The wheat covers the hills in the Palouse, the rolling landscape is like big ocean swells...
OK, everybody has to have a tractor image....
There is desert in the Palouse too.
The essence of minimalism...
Out of nowhere, stone walls.
I find it hard to make compositions out of something so vast, with so much sameness.
It takes treating the entire vista as a sculpture.
Thanks for viewing!!
