Before co-founding Jets.com in 2008, Edgar Alacan served as a private jet coordinator for Concord Private Jets, where he began his career in the aviation business. Active in the industry, Edgar Alacan holds membership in organizations such as the National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).

NBAA was founded in 1947 to serve companies and professionals that work with and use general aviation aircraft. Counting more than 11,000 throughout the country as members, NBAA provides more than 100 services and products, including professional development programs and certifications.

There are three member categories at the NBAA – operating, business, and professional. The operating member category is for people and entities that operate or own aircraft as a transportation aid for conducting their activities or business. Operating members must have less than half of total sales volume from business aviation services or products, and use pilots with appropriate qualifications.

Business members are people or entities that do not qualify for the operating membership but have a commercial interest in business aviation. Professional members at NBAA are those who manifest interest in business aviation – students, retired professionals, aspiring professionals, or professionals related to the business aviation community.
