A Nanjing November

Illustration
In November 2018 I had the honor to stay in Nanjing, China, for a month as part of an artist's residency. I went with two friends and we stayed with the most generous and welcoming people possible, who showed us Nanjing, but also Beijing and Shanghai and Suzhou and the "secret" great wall and many more things. As a visual person, I was fascinated by the mystical light (due to smog).

As my artists project I chose a place by the Yangze River in Nanjing, where I sat down as often as I could and where I drew a whole day - from sunrise until sunset. Many things repeated themselves: The dog owners always came in the morning, the children always in the evening, the bird people also arrived the same time every day. It was a fascinating place to stay. I hope you enjoy this selection of pictures!
