ReCreate: Mrs. Peterkin
As a proof of concept for a campaign I was proposing to celebrate the launch of Adobe Fresco, a drawing and painting app for touch devices like the iPad and Surface Pro, I recreated a drawing I did when I was 8 years old. I found the humor in the story sill, the drawing fun and I wanted to twist that feeling into how I might approach the story as a professional illustrator today. It was a fun piece to work on and I loved seeing the campaign get greenlit, and the resulting work by some amazing artists. See more on Create magazines page that talks about the campaign.
Here was my original drawing.
And some imagery and experiments in Adobe Fresco. I wanted to show the advantages of having an app that could contain both vector and pixel layers, almost mixing the best qualities of drawing in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop at the same time. The line work on top was all vector and I painted the colors underneath with tools like the watercolor live brushes and the marker brush.
The file exported directly to Photoshop where I could make more fine tuned adjustments if I wanted and rasterize the vector layers if I need to adjust those as well.
