Shanghai Me
I worked with the amazing and talented folk at DutchScot providing illustrations as part of a branding project for Shanghai Me, a fine dining experience located in Dubai. Shanghai Me is the epitome of Art Deco elegance located in Dubai’s International Finance Centre, the cuisine inspired by culinary traditions of East Asia.
The Art Deco interior of the restaurant is a homage to the city’s golden era when it was a melting pot of different characters, cultures and personalities. A prosperous place where ‘chambermaids could turn into princesses’.
Using a series of 1930s characters with split personalities, this idea celebrates this transformation from ‘Me’ to ‘Shanghai Me’. Characters are given a surreal Shanghai Me alter ego based on the animals from the Chinese Zodiac.
