I designed and illustrated the cover for a recent audiobook adaption of the classic EC Comics title, “Vault Of Horror“.

A similar inversion of my work by another artist was used instead. Here is my original unused composition and art.
• The logo box was created from scratch, with corrected kerning.
• #40 was the final issue of Vault (1953), so this is #41.
• The main art is watercolor, emulating the spotty saturation of photos printed on pulp paper.
• The infinity comic imitates the dots of Silver Age color printing.
• My signature is based on famed Vault cover artist, Johnny Craig, whose work can be seen on the VOH volumes in the background.
EC Comics was the punk rock of 1950s comics, the first attempt to do edgy and mature material for adults. It was destroyed by conservative reactionaries, but its influence permeates every mature advance in comics since.
