gravity needed an illustration they could use to promote their new RAGNAROK TRANSCENDENCE game service, both online and via printed posters.
i was given a good bit of freedom with this piece, the only request being that it featured a first, second, or transcendent class character looking into the distance, perhaps with a town in the background.
i knew i wanted to feature one of ragnarok's most iconic class designs, and create a scene involving one of the game's beginner towns. the world of ragnarok has a strong power of nostalgia for many, which i felt was essential to capture -- i wanted this illustration to show that fondness for familiarity, to create the feeling of an adventurer returning home.
