On Friday 27th March 2020, ARCH+ART, a group of Egyptian architects and visual artists, has revealed their project: “A response to global crisis”, to highlight the role of both art and architecture in raising the social awareness, towards global issues facing the world.
ARCH+ART as an awareness movement, is established by a group architects, sculptors and visual artists. Their vision is to exploit their multidisciplinary experience in enhancing people’s life around all over the world, and raise awareness of global issues, via urban intervention, interactive artworks, installations and visual arts. This awareness movement founders are: Ali Khaled Elewa, Ebtisam Elgizawy, Ahmed Abdelfattah, Maher Dawoud, Eslam Nabil, Amr Kamal, Sherif Khaled, Hosam Elsawah and Hussein Mohamed.
In this context, they actually see these challenges in a really different way. People always face crises all over the world—invasions, fires, and earthquakes.  They survived because they had connected to one another.
Recently, many challenges has appeared, and due to globalization, it became a fact that people should connect and cooperate to face them together.
It is a matter of fact that these challenges include: global warming, lack of sufficient clean water, and pandemics outbreak.
As a response for the Coronavirus – COVID 19 outbreak, and the increasing needs of social distancing, ARCH+ART has revealed their interactive artwork, as a supportive message to all the world, that we all share same emotions, hopes and destiny.
"In world full of disasters...
That may force us to social distancing
We are all still connected...
With our hearts..."
The power of social interaction, even in the worst cases, even by our hearts, during the crucial quarantine, to face the danger of the mighty coronavirus! We have that great anxiety about the epidemic, ignoring the natural fact that everything has to be changed in time. We only have the choice to embrace it or to face it as a one world with only one and same future.
That does not mean to deny the fact of the importance of social distancing, but we highlight it to encourage people to take action, by staying at home. That is what really matters.
From that point on, the main concern of our project is to show the significant role of virtual social connections between people to face global problems. And how to draw tactile and professional attention to the importance of understanding local cultures as mechanisms for sustaining human solidarity and creativity in the context of facing crises.
In this context, 3D projection mapping technology will be used for imitating the virtual threat of a global crisis. That is to say, the exhibition will introduce an interactive experience, where the threat will recede when visitors apply social distancing. While the city buildings act as a catalyst for virtual social interaction. The purpose of this interaction is to raise the social awareness, and to highlight that we should virtually live, interact and cooperate together to face the threat of global crises.
