ARTCADE
Idea Generator Game
This app is a fun, interactive, idea generator that provides artists with various unique prompts. The problem we are trying to solve is how might we motivate creatives to practice their art? The goal is to promote imagination and stimulate the unique originality of individual designs. The success of our product relies on the participants satisfaction with their experience and sharing their designs on social media. #Artcade

Design Process
Ideas Leading to Ideas
The theme of the app was inspired by arcades. We wanted to reward creativity, by winning ideas, in the form of prizes. Tools We used a combination of different platforms to fulfill our idea. Procreate was used to create hand drawn illustrations. Illustrator was used for clean vector such as the logo. Adobe XD was used for prototyping and interaction. Premiere Pro was used for the user scenario video.
ASSETS
All of the assets below were hand drawn to keep a consistent look throughout the app.
The TakeAWAY
Ideas Leading to Learning
What we learned
Having a UI kit on hand with all of our assets helped us easily organize, plan, and rework ideas. We learned the importance of drafting ideas using lo-fi wireframes. There were many times our scope of ideas were too wide. Taking into consideration the time frame we had, and our experience to execute them correctly, helped set restrictions that took effective action.
What we would do differently
Planning out our ideas physically helped us define our process. Next time we will not spend too much time in the ideation stage and spend more efforts on drafting on prototyping.
A Special Thanks
I wanted to give a big thank you to my friend and partner on this project, Mathew Bryant. For a two man team, taking on an app design in two weeks took a lot of dedication, teamwork, and ingenuity. It is because of his strive for perfection we constantly raised each others expectations and moral. Working with him helped educate me about the many functions of Adobe XD and inspired me to continue working on Artcade to completion. I look forward to working with Mathew again on another project.
Cut Content and Sketches
Due to the timeframe we were not able to implement some ideas. For instance we wanted to have a gallery in order for people to share their creations under the same prompts. However, fostering an online community made us realize there were many more variables to consider such as rating systems and organization. Instead we opted for the hashtag Artcade as the primary means to share people's creations on whichever platform they choose. There were also plans to have a prize center in which players can cash in tokens for personal avatar customizations. A character named Clark runs the prize station and often gets bored so he puts on random outfits.
