Visual identity
D&AD Channel 4
2011, 3rd year of University
I designed NOVA4 for a D&AD competition and also a university project. The brief was to create a visual identity for a new Channel4 channel with a target audience of 60+, that does not broadcasts old movies and old shows, but new, fresh and intelligent new award winning movies and shows.
The name, ‘NOVA’ means ‘new’ in Latin, which is a language of culture, but kept the ‘4’ like all other Channel 4 channels.
For its design, I chose a different approach than those taken previously by Channel4 in their visual identities: I enlarged the colour scheme to represent versatility and understanding but kept it graphic, just like all the other Channel4 logos.
