In 2025 most countries will prohibit single-use plastic. But at 564 tons of waste a day.
Why wait?
Many countries are giving an "estimated" year to ban single-use plastic. But in the tiny country of Costa Rica, a big movement already started.
The world faces a big threat: excessive pollution caused by tons and tons of plastic waste; specially single use plastic.
Through the years, Costa Rica has been recognized as an axis of global biodiversity, it’s called the most sustainable country in the world.
However, the problem of plastic waste has not been alien to the country: Costa Rica produces 564 tons of plastic waste a day.
To solve this problem, the government is set to prohibit single-use plastics by 2021.
We think this is a problem that needs to be solved NOW. Why wait ‘till 2021 if we can start right away?
Consumer brands will then need to redesign most of their plastic packaging. We found the way to help them do it in a quick and easy way saving time and money.
In the first 6 weeks since launch:

64M+ Less plastic pieces
276 Less tons of waste by the ban starts
185+ Petitions
196+ Solutions
101+ implemented
23+ Brands

Eliminating only the unnecessary layers of plastic will bring savings for the brands and having avoided 55 tons of garbage every day; just by optimizing their products.

We'll have joined consumer + brands + students + government + influencers + opinion leaders for a good cause.

Although it is a Costa Rican initiative, people from 8 additional countries have joined so far: México, Panama, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Paraguay and Spain.
