Nuclear Power Plant in a Village

The power plant located in Brokdorf , Germany was build in 1986. Many protests took place during the construction work of the power plant. 1981 protests reached its peak. About 100.000 people showed up around the village to protest against nuclear power.
After the exit of nuclear energy by Germany 2011 it was decided that the power plant will be shut down by the end of 2021. The power plant has been running perfectly so far and produced the largest amount of electricity worldwide in 2005.
How can a nuclear power plant shape a village and how do you perceive it during the day or night? On the one hand, the art of engineering of a nuclear power plant is impressive, but on the other hand, it is very dangerous for the environment. Disasters like Chernobyl or Fukushima have taught us the devastating effect of nuclear energy.
I was wondering in what light a nuclear power plant could put in a small and idyllic village in northern Germany.
