Herome The Home Drone

Creating a drone for the home
The project was to create a drone using Solidworks and render using photo-realistic imagery. I have used 3D modeling for awhile, so I decided to focus attention not entirely on mechanical design, but also the engineering of how the drone would operate.
Research
Moodboard and Product Analysis
I steered toward a very neutral palette and incorporated more interior design, since I saw the application as having a drone indoors for security and for analysis.
Sketching and Iterating
Digital Sketches
The design challenge brought to mind many inspirations; spiders, ceiling fans, anything that attaches to the ceiling. I chose a circular form since it is unique for drones and is best suited for the home. It also offers a 360 view which will be needed for the security camera.
Prototyping Models
Solidworks
The prototype, which was modeled after a ceiling fan, could realistically fly around the corners of a house without damaging it, could still see around the house, and could move in multiple directions.
Final Renders
Keyshot
Ultimately, the product lived well within its environment and could effectively monitor a room and move around the ceiling.
