Nepal, Aftershock
April 25, 2015
As not all of you remember the exact date, most will remember the headlines of a devastating earthquake hitting Nepal. The world knew about it and some followed up. Unfortunately Nepal lies in the epicentre of quake-country, better known as the Himalayas, which are still growing and consequently will continue to trigger new quakes.
After the "big one" the 25th, no less than 25 aftershocks hit Nepal in the following months.

This series is dedicated to a country in recovery, in aftershock, still, more than three years later as I made this trip. Touristic centres are the first to undergo - I want to say major repairs-, but if that were the case it would have been done by now...

A glimpse behind the mystic curtain of the Himalayas
Some temples kept on their feet, but just like twisting an ankle: sometimes you need those stelts longer if you'd twisted it than if you'd broken it...
New flats sprout from between the rubble, yet for some a tent from the red cross remains their only shelter.
The eternal flame near the birthplace of the Buddha, as long as it burns the earth will continue spinning and people will remain hopeful for a better future.
As the pidgeons fly, another series from Nepal comes to a close.

Thanks for watching and if you'd like something not quite so grimm, take a look at my portfolio, I usually document sunnier moments ^^
