Grand Canyon University Brochure for the Taka Group

Grand Canyon University Viewbook for The Taka Group
This brochure was a huge undertaking, and it was also extremely successful. The client has ordered several runs of this piece, and it also won the AMA Spectrum Award for best Brochure, 2010. The goal was to reach high school students from out of state, and the client preferred a soft sell. I was enlisted to source the best places, events, restaurants, and stores in town to feature in the brochure as benefits to living in the city of Phoenix. I also researched the recreation aspects of the city and state, so that these potential students would not be able to wait to go to school at Grand Canyon University, instead of their local college. This piece was designed to have integrity, and speak to high school students in a fun but informational way. We utilized testimonials to lend authenticity to the voice of the brochure. I loved how I was given creative freedom and I took full advantage of that by adding unique creative touches and content to make the piece memorable. Some of these included a tear-out poster, creating a historical back story of their mascot and illustration playing upon Da Vinci's vitruvian man, and on the inside back cover, digitally created an image of a bathroom stall wall with graffiti (with writings that pertained to GCU, of course!).
