Just days before we ushered in the new year, a powerful winter storm blew through North Dakota and Minnesota. Over a single 5 °F day, 24 inches of snow fell and along with it came 30 mile per hour winds. 

The following images were taken one day later directly on a frozen over Devil's Lake, located in North Dakota. Far from town and completely undisturbed by people, these images highlight both the beauty and the harsh conditions of the North Dakota wilderness.
