拥挤、闷热、湿漉漉、脏兮兮......是一些人对市场/街市的印象。“设计改造”并不是我们的point。为什么菜市场时常要被改造?它们是哪里有错,还是哪里不好看了?因为邋邋遢遢的就没有值得欣赏喜欢的方面吗?高峰期的吵吵闹闹就只会让人感到不适吗?清空心和眼,实实在在地走进室内肉菜市场、露天街市又或者是远离市中心的农副产品市场......贪婪地装进很多很多画面感受印象。

Crowded, dirty, stuffy and hot.......That's what some people think of a market/street market. "Design transformation" is not our focal point. On the contrary, we wonder why local markets often need to be remodelled? What is wrong with them, or where are they unsightly? Is there nothing to be liked because of the mess? Does the hustle and bustle during peak hours only make people uncomfortable? If you are interested, why not empty your heart and eyes, walk into those various markets places, and let those impressions fulfil your greed?

大半年前,还在001期《嚣闻》的校对阶段,我们就对之后的选题有过集中的讨论“贩体字”——由市场、街市里摊贩们自己制作的字体是最先吸引我们的。或手写涂鸦、或拼贴,还有各种卖力引起注意的强调设计。当我们因为字体走进广州的菜市场时,不同于别人认真买菜那般急急忙忙、较真还价。我们慢悠悠地眈天望地、左顾右盼、诸事八卦、搭讪闲聊。菜市场还是湿答答乱脏脏的菜市场,但它们其实还有很多值得被看到的样子。而它们这些原原本本的样子,很是好看!

More than half a year ago, in the proofreading stage of 1st issue of hüman, we had already discussed the most catchy thing about the market/street market. The answer was "SELLING FONTS"! These fonts are handmade by market vendors—writings, graffiti, collages, and other emphasized symbols—they are attractive and funny! When we were in the markets, unlike the bargained buyers, we slowly walked around, chatted with each other, gossiped about everything, and looked for the selling fonts that we loved. Dirty and messy were still there, but in fact, the markets did have a lot to see, and we liked the way they were.

在采风初期我们就有感:菜市场!我们错过你太多太多的好看了!安静的喧闹的,五彩斑斓、陆离眩目,纷繁有趣。我们还是那个贪心的hüman,所以索性“创造”了一个土炮地方台“BBSTV嚣闻卫视”,以最大的包容度去装下我们所看到的菜市场的方方面面,用不同的“电视节目”带“观众”游市场和街市。

After a few visits, we strongly felt that we had missed too many other things about the market before. The quietness, the lively colours, the dazzling lights, and so on......All of them were too intriguing to avoid, which made us a greedy decision——we would love to install them all in our 2nd issue! To deal with it, we created a fake local TV station named "BBSTV" and faked ourselves as TV program producers only to put forward "shows" touring audiences to enjoy different aspects of the market that hüman had discovered.

我们走了16个市场/街市、拍下了3112张照片,最终决定向大家推出5档精彩“节目”:晨间的士高、十点风云、我在灯火篮栅处、是日精选、安哥Encore。它们会是002期《嚣闻》的5本正刊,一共320P的内容,还非常大胆地没有页码。随手捡起一本,随意从中间翻开或从尾到头,就像打开电视时看到了节目/广告的片段,没头没尾的,想回看、快进或者换个台,都可以。

We went to 16 local markets, took 3112 photos, and finally decided to introduce 5 fantastic "programs" to you: Morning Disco, Bustling Crowds, I Am Here Awaiting, Today's Special and Encore. They will be the five hard copies of the 2nd issue of hüman. The work has 320-page-contents, but there are no page numbers inside. People can pick up the copy randomly and enjoy the "program" without any designated orders, just like when you turn on the TV and see the clip of a show or advertising. There are no beginnings or ends. You are welcome to look back, fast forward, or change channels at your will.


我们说起小时候看电视的回忆时,想起了一种叫“电视周报”的报纸,上面会有某个电视台一个星期的电视节目时间表。拿到002期时,不妨先看看我们的报纸,是堪比正刊的呕心沥血的大作哈。《嚣闻电视周报》B2版的“本周荧屏”节目表,我们可是十分认真地埋下了一堆电视节目的梗,还暴露了不少童年的电视取向。

When we reminisced about watching TV as a child, the newspaper "TV Weekly" occurred to our mind. It had a week-long schedule of various TV programs from different TV stations. When you get the hüman 002, you might as well take a look at our newspaper first. On B2 page of "BBSTV Weekly", there is a TV column called  "Screen of the Week"  which buries a lot of funny points in the details and exposes our childhood TV orientations.

Welcome to BBSTV. Here we have a well-prepared journey for you: the glamorous dazzling Morning Disco, a nervous challenge among master buyers in Bustling Crowds, lovely quiet moments of I Am Here Awaiting, funny selling fonts and a mysterious master that we found in Today's Special, last but not the least, a big documentary record Encore on Sunday night.


《嚣闻》不是一个媒体,它是基于广州城市记录并具有启发性的传播项目。

hüman is not a media pruduction. It is an enlightening research-based project about the local cultures and life of Guangzhou city.

它还是一件充满着我们三个创作者个人强烈情感的作品。所以我们从不避讳“主观”。《嚣闻》的内容不会是碎片热点,而是有着被一而再、再而三翻看的价值,让广州的人情味、市井气能被感知。期望它可以引起你的共鸣,带给你感受和启发。我们会继续记录广州,这座城市的生命力也会反哺我们。

It is also a work of intense personal emotion that we never shy away from being "subjective". The content of hüman is not about present hotspot issues, but its pursuit to unveil the ordinary civil warmness of Guangzhou city and make it possible to be better perceived. hüman has the value to be read time after time. We hope it can resonate with you, and bring you thoughts and inspiration. We will continue to record Guangzhou, and we believe that the vitality of this city will feed us back.

Morning Disco  ·  晨间的士高
“今天买什么菜好呢?”前一秒你还在放空自己走进市场里,不料眼睛跟某个光源直接对看上,刹那间那强烈的光直冲冲刺入你的双眼,好像想一股劲地往你血管里钻。你闭上眼睛试图甩开这种不适应感;再睁开眼,你发现整个世界都浸泡在一种极致妖艳的、怪异的颜色里,包括你,包括从你身边经过的男男女女,包括“猪肉荣”面前挂着的团团猪肉,还有“卖鱼胜”手上闪着凌厉的光的刀,甚至是“菠菜莲”头上新买的波浪发夹。 光影肆意在这里重叠交错,试图将市场里平静的一切剪碎再凑成新的画面。它们伴着四周此起彼伏的吵杂声,随着你的移动在你周围旋转摇曳着。你感到有点晕眩,但并没有讨厌它,反倒是觉得这里有些刺激、有些上瘾……你从一个颜色走到下一个颜色,还在想着要买什么菜,好像什么判断力都飞到宇宙之外,眼睛、呼吸、大脑都被这些疯狂的光给填满、填满、填满……

"What kind of food should I buy today?" You walked into the market with an empty mind a second ago. Unexpectedly, your eyes met a bright light source, which sprinted into your eyes straightly as if it drilled hard into your veins. You closed your eyes and tried to shake off the sense of discomfort. When you opened your eyes again, you found that the whole world was soaked in extremely coquettish colours, including you and the hurried men and women passing by, the pork hanging in front of the meat dealer, the sharp gleaming knife in the fish killer's hand, and also the new wavy hairpin on vendor lady's head. The light and shadow overlapped wantonly, which had cut everything calm into a new picture in the market. They were accompanied by noises that came and went one after another, rotating and swaying around you as you moved. You felt a little dizzy, but you did not hate it. Instead, you found it slightly stimulating and addictive. You walked from one colour to another, still thinking about what to buy. It seemed like your capability of estimating was flying outside the universe, and your eyes, breath and brain were all filled with those crazy lights......



Bustling Crowds  ·  十点风云
婴儿车、小拉车、自行车、电动车、摩托车,车轮滚滚,菜市场拥挤起来堪比广州上午八、九点的黄埔大道。若是每日走在这般“车流”之中,想必定能练就出反应迅速的侧身过人,还有灵活的脚下功夫。 上午九、十点的菜市场很是热闹,人山人海、人声鼎沸,当中不乏各摊档老板如海水般涌来的叫卖,“鸡蛋又便又靓又新鲜”“全场5蚊一件、5蚊一件”“火龙果,10蚊有5只喇”……当中突然冒出一句明显夸大的“今日饮咗,以后都唔中暑”,盏鬼得让人忍俊不禁;还有买菜人驾轻就熟的还价,“便D啦”“搭多条葱啦”“连这块肉一起送我啦”……牙力与脸皮,在这里有恃无恐地“与日俱增”。每天上演的这些较量过招,尽在《十点风云》。

With strollers, trolleys, bicycles, electric vehicles, motorcycles, and rolling wheels, the crowded vegetable market is comparable to Huangpu Avenue in Guangzhou at morning peak time. If you walk in such "traffic" every day, you must be able to practice quick sideways manoeuvres and flexible footwork. At 9 or 10 in the morning, the vegetable market is full of people and very lively. Stall owners yell to attract attention. For example, "The eggs are fresh, good and cheap" "Each thing here is 5 RMB per piece!" "5 tasty pitayas are 10 RMB only!". Sometimes you hear an exaggerated sentence "Drink today, I won't suffer from heatstroke in the future" and laugh out of control. You argue with stall owners to get a pretty good bargain. Here in the market, strategic battles and tricks stage every day. If you are interested, do not miss the show in Bustling Crowds.



I am Here Awaiting  ·  我在灯火篮栅处
市场每一天都上演着很多邂逅。有些是致命般的吸引,很强烈,看一眼就喜欢上,严重心动者甚至会停不住遐想翩翩,画面印在脑海里挥之不去。好多好多浓烈的颜色,还有令人猜不透的肌理与轮廓,每一个明明天生就各不相同,凑在一起却是如此的般配。有一些则完全不是这样一回事,空气里好像凝固了一场“眼神与手”的博弈:对方摆出一副“可远观而不可亵玩焉”的样子,但心里其实渴望着好奇者的到来,只是希望贪婪的手能安分一点、温柔一些;上钩者唯有慢慢地、小心地靠近,恐怕欲望暴露吓跑了对方,然后看准时机才真正出手。至于另外一些就不仅是相遇这么轻描淡写了,每一看都有着“似曾相识”的感觉。无论是那些整整齐齐堆叠在一起的物品,还是天真烂漫的可爱生命,它们都藏着时光的美好安安静静地处在那里,等待着合适的人,一起回家。

Many encounters are happening in the market every day. Some are fatally attractive, very strong, and you like them after a glance. Those who are tempted may linger the encounter in mind again and again. There are many wondering colours, unpredictable textures and outlines, each of which is different from birth, but together they become such a good match. Some occasions are not like that at all. It seems to be a game of eyes and hands frozen in the air:  "temptation" puts on a look that "can be seen from a distance but not to be played with", but it is longing for the curious, the greedy hand but possibly be calmer and gentler; the tempted person approaches slowly and carefully, fearing that the exposure of desire will scare the chance away, and he/she only to wait for the right moment to take a shot. As for the others, every look seems like a hint that "I met you somewhere before". Whether it is those neatly stacked objects or innocent lovely lives, they all hide the beauty of time and sit there quietly, waiting for the right person to go home together.

Have you ever paid attention to the handwritten "fonts" in the market? Commodity names, daily prices, advertising slogans, and warm reminders usually appear on "frames" of different sizes, which may be a price tag hand-crafted by the stall owner using materials from the market, or a large transparent glass wall. These fonts have never been the protagonists in the market, but without them, the charm of the goods will be slightly inferior. Smart stall owners know how to seize the opportunity to make good use of handwritten words—from colour to stroke, from font to material—they try hard to get a good and eye-catching effect, adding humour and unique perspectives to make it unforgettable. Their wisdom has created a piece of articulated leisure for the marketplace. If you are willing to read it slowly and take a closer look, you will be surprised. The design between the lines is much more exciting than you think.

做水果批发直接找果农拿货,有被强迫以高价收劣质货,有被抢钱、货也没拿到,也有试过用45块收买了整条村的人帮忙。虽然没有刀光剑影,但也有“冒着生命危险”的危险。 安哥,七十年代末从茂名来到广州,从最初一个“揼石仔”的工人到现在“安记水果”的老板,从他只身一人到把妈妈、弟弟、老婆、子女都接到了广州生活,这三十几年时间,“卖水果”是他赖以生存的生意、是他养家活口的事业,经历中不乏跌宕起伏。那时候的冒险,现在娓娓道来,则成了人生中值得回味的插曲。 如今,安哥的水果事业在江燕路上继续着。日复一日的日子,日复一日的拿货、开铺、收铺,日复一日地继续着。或许等一年后回过头来看现在,又是不同的感慨。

While running fruit wholesales, he went directly to the fruit farmers to get the goods. He once was forced to accept low-quality goods at high prices, once was robbed and received nothing in the end, and once he tried using 45 RMB to bribe the entire villagers for help. Although there is no sword and shadow in his stories, the risk and danger did live in his life. Ange, who came to Guangzhou from Maoming in the late 1970s, went from being a "stone picker" on a construction site to now the boss of "Anji Fruit Store" with his mom and own family living together in the city. For the past 30 years, "selling fruit" has been the business he relies on for his survival and the career he supports for his family. There are many ups and downs in his experience. The adventures at that time, now narrated, have become a memorable episodes in life. Today, Ange's fruit business continues on Jiangyan Road. Day after day, picking up goods, opening shops, and closing shops, day after day, continues day after day. That is Ange's daily life. Perhaps when we look back on his stories a year later, every feeling will have changed.

Buzzy Breezy Studio gathers three “greedy”souls who are both adventurers and down-to-earth thinkers with talents in independent writing, edit and design. The logo concept stems from “屎坑计”(si2 haang1 gai3), which means witty ideas coming up when you sit on the toilet, expressing the openness of the studio and reminding people not to miss interesting things because of preconceived prejudice.
