These are the preliminary ideas based on which I was offered to design a 'tote bag' that would to reflect “community cohesion” in its truest sense, meaning that it merges different cultural aspects of design together. The call was for a vibrant and vocal approach rather than a minimalist, simplified one, as instructed. As part of a bigger project, the design has to have the logos of the EU, the RDPP and IOM Egypt. For design inspiration, I was asked to research on the relevant projects led by IOM and its operations in Egypt.

The overall objective from the Regional Development and Protection Program is to respond to the migration challenges encountered in Egypt by building the resilience and capacity of communities hosting migrants to absorb and support vulnerable migrants and ensure community stability, as well as strengthening the rights of migrants in the region. The project focuses on three main pillars; employability, entrepreneurship and community cohesion among migrants and hosting communities. I was instructed to bring in such elements that reflect not only the migration challenges but the innate cultural diversity that is unique to Egypt.

The primary objective of this task, as stated before, was to create design ideas that reflects the amalgamation of various cultures, echoes the art of diversity and preaches inclusivity in ways more than one. The chosen design would be printed by the IOM wing for Egypt and will be further disseminated during major events, conference meetings and seminars amongst various emminent stakeholders.
