So, I’m one of thousands of designers to answer Mark Cuban’s challenge to “help the Mavs redesign their jerseys” and possibile update their logo.  There were a few restraints that were established for the logo redesign. I agree with the restraints because I generally liked the original design – but I noticed a few opportunities for improvement.

1.   Redesign of the overall shield.  The shield was redesigned because I wanted to redesign the logo to become a bigger and bolder mark, making it more of an iconic mark.  The Mavs will own this color blue (which was the one of the main reasons I redesigned the shield).

 

2.  I love this part of the logo and didn’t want to do anything to it, except increase it’s size within the shield and increase the contrast from the original logo.

 

3.  Be proud of being a Maverick!  I’ve always thought it was difficult to read the work ‘Mavericks’ within the original mark so I decided to increase its size.
