Dr. Aiman Hamdan has been involved in several professional organizations, including the American College of Cardiology (ACC), which works with over 54,000 cardiologists to advance research and innovation in the area.

The ACC recently responded to the year-end spending bill, with the organization’s president Richard J. Kovacs highlighting raising the minimum age of buying tobacco to 21. In a statement, he noted that this is a public health issue, with the move helping to keep tobacco products out of the hands of children.

Mr. Kovacs also highlighted a recent National Youth Tobacco Use Survey, which concluded that 31.2 percent of high school students are currently using a tobacco product, including e-cigarettes. As such, the ACC claimed that it stands with Congress and other key stakeholders in reducing the number of teenagers using these products.
