The photographic image is both a form of fiction and a reference to the real. For many years I have been photographing my surroundings.  In this body of work, I am inspired by photographing architecture in my everyday life. Rather than seeking a view in the landscape, I have been creating paper maquette sculptures and photographing them in the studio.  I use artificial light to transform the paper subject and create an illusion of space and depth.These internal architectural spaces are made to provoke a thought about a memory, an idea or decision. A narrative emerges as light defines and distorts the physical characteristics of the paper model.  This work directly relates to a thoughtful process of decision making, the seemingly abstract concept of loss, the mystery of the unknown.
