Matryoshka dolls are wonderful icons of Russian folk art, whose shape invokes a host of meanings. With Mesh Matryoshkas, designed for Dutch design publisher Soonsalon, I wanted to add another layer of intrigue: how did one doll get inside the other?
Take a good look through the intricate wire mesh, and marvel at how 3d-printing allows us to create nested shapes like these.
Mesh Matryoshkas were designed using Rhino and generative modeling plug-in Grasshopper. More information on http://michielcornelissen.com/Mesh_Matryoshka_3d-printed_jewelry.html.
