The pride of Oklahoma resides within the people. By singing the state song thousands of time, it is depicted that Oklahoma is a “grand land.” Despite the song’s earnest words, it is not the land that makes Oklahoma special, it is the people. The citizens of Oklahoma follow the state motto, “Labor Omnia Vincit, Labor conquers all things.” Through their hard work Oklahoma has become a thriving and friendly place to raise a family and retire. The Oklahoma City Community Arts Center accentuates the ambitiousness of the Sooner State. The extended prow of the Center reaches from downtown to the Oklahoma River shore. This encourages exploration of what is new and what can be found in Oklahoma City. The construction of Scissortail Park has encouraged citizens of Oklahoma City and surrounding areas to spend time outdoors and meditate away from the hustle and bustle of downtown. Scissortail Park strives to link the heart of the city to the riverfront with a 1.25-mile long park bookmarked by the Devon Tower and the Oklahoma riverfront. The Community Arts Center continues this concept of linking by creating a link to other people through a community event. The 250 seat theater allows for smaller performances to have a venue to demonstrate their unique culture to others. Oklahoma is an extremely diverse state inspiring the people groups to grow close to one another in community. The lobby and cafe allow for plenty of space to connect to new people and increase one’s horizons. The Oklahoma City Community Arts Center wants to empower citizens to link together and embrace one another’s diversity.
