Design, Rendering and 3D Printing exercise. 3D print and final modelling in progress.
The design explores the relationship between digitally fabricated and hand crafted elements, each expressing their own materiality and personality. The 3D printed plastic exoskeleton is used as the framework for the lampshade, which is completed by passing yarn through printed slots. Yarn was chosen as a material which would absorb and soften the light source. The lamp is a play in contrast between rigidity and flexibility, solidity and ephemerality.
