MASERATI MILLEMIGLIA CONCEPT 2020

MASERATI
Millemiglia Concept 2020
Homage to the 105° Maserati anniversary

Between 2004 and 2006 I was involved in Formula Student events with Unimore Modena racing team, the so-called Mad Modena Racers, now Moremodenaracing (https://www.moremodenaracing.it/). I used to spend more time there than on University courses, for sure! Those were great years in Bruntingthorpe Proving Ground. Driving around in numerous Alfas, spending time with my friends, waving a tricolour flag after finals of 2006 World Cup!

The 4 open-wheel Formula SAE car development was based at Carrozzeria Campana Maserati in Modena. Project was designed and engineered with old school methods and techniques. While working there I had a great pleasure to meet and work with one of the few "battilastra", the good "Bonna" - Mauro Bonaccini. A great metal craftsman. He was very precise in building scale models too and was able to manufacture a lot of small metal pieces (https://www.internationalclassic.com/collezione-dauto-depoca-unica/).

First prototype body was built with welded spline cage as a reference to cut the manufacturing costs prices for milling and molding were too high for our budget. Once the painting process was completed, the bodywork was smooth with sharp reflections. The result was very unique.

I dream of a Maserati design following my personal "Modenese" perspective. Single halo seaters like the Maserati 250F and 6CM were starting point for my inspirations. I wanted to give it modern surfacing and proportions. Color would stay very classic at the same time with distinctive Italian Avio for the bodywork and interior finished in sand beige.

The MilleMiglia concept is a homage to the craftsmen I had the chance and pleasure to work with. My passion for car design grew on me thanks to their involvement. They should be inspiring examples for the next generations with their hard work and passion coming from the heart. They are part of our heritage.

A special thanks to Ermanno Cozza for the Maserati Centennial book - "A century of history", with dedicated signature.
