Part of a collaboration between The Paper Artist Collective and Excel Blades.

Using the Oxford Dictionary definition of the word 'PATTERN', 14 members of the collective were challenged to interpret the brief in paper form.

This collaboration was the perfect opportunity to combine paper cutting with quilling. The pattern was hand-cut into the vertical surface of the on-edge paper, which allowed for shadows to become an integral component of the work. A geometric pattern was chosen to create the most striking shadows. The most challenging part was documenting the finished work, trying to work with the light to get the shadows in the right position. 

Working with Excel blades and tools is always a pleasure; unlike some other brands whose blade tips break off after a few cuts, their blades stay sharper for longer.
