Overview of Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam
Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam was established by Mr Ho Kow’s father Ho Kee Soon in 1956. Originally called Soon Kee,
its name was changed to its current one when the younger Ho took over the business. The older Ho came to Kuala Lumpur from the Hainam province in China in search of a better living and found himself selling Hainanese goodies
on Lorong Panggung in Chinatown.

In May 2018, the owners of the storied coffee shop moved out of its 60-year-old address after receiving an eviction order. They decided to resume business in a shophouse next to the original one, to the delight of the kopitiam’s loyal customers. And with the third and fourth generations behind the coffee bar, the legacy of Ho Kow Hainam Kopitiam
lives on.
