MOTU (for Sophisticated Living) takes inspiration from the islands of Aotearoa in the south pacific. The inherent isolation of islands foster a close dependence and close connection to one's immediate surroundings. MOTU reflects this connection. A space is created, inclusive to those who occupy it and isolated from external distractions.
Statement of the Jury
‘‘The living room suite has a modular construction and captivates with a striking, organic design language, which fosters a friendly, inviting atmosphere. The modules which stretch entirely to the floor appear compact and nonetheless light at the same time and can be combined with one another as needed, thus creating new seating ensembles’’ German Design Award 2020)
The organic lounge group captivates with its versatility. The group includes a 1 and 2 person sofa, a chaise lounge, a side table and a stool and can be oriented in a variety of different configurations. This modular furniture is therefore suitable for a wide range of applications: from apartments and guest rooms to receptions, waiting areas and executive offices – from hotels bars and restaurants to store interiors.
