2013: STAIRCASE DESIGN
For this project, a spatial volume of 5.0m by 5.0m by 10.0m was given. The task was to design a staircase, which had to have access at 1.5m, 3.0m and 7.0m from ground level. Freedom of experimentation with the general form was allowed, however, structural considerations had to be kept in mind. The aim for this design was to achieve a dynamic form, so as to break away from the usual, conventional staircase.
The objective of this exercise was to understand ergonomics, architectural drawing, volumetric design, proportions, scale, use of materials and detailing.
