THE PLAQUE is a thesis project of International Design school for Advanced Studies, Hongik University.

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the human moon landing, this project uses only a pictogram to express many sacrifices and efforts from space competition to the moon landing of Apollo 11.

To express the old-fashioned pictograms, I referred to the works of Rudolf Modley of the 1930s and to the
1972 Munich Olympics pictograms to add geometric regularity.
Diagonal graphic elements were set based on the Earth's rotation axis angle, and circular and square were used as the overall graphic language.
In this project, the pictogram was designed after going through historical testimonials concerning portraits and
spaceship photos.
The book consists of three books and over 1700 pages. The story begins with Robert Goddard and ends with
Robert Goddard.
50 years ago, Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin put the lunar plaque on the lunar surface.

I named this book THE PLAQUE in honor of their achievement as a member of humanity on Earth.
