Talking to Computers with Dr. Perl

Talking to Computers with Dr. Perl is a game created using C#, and Unity for the 2018 Global Game Jam, a 48-Hour Game Development Event.

The game serves as a proof-of-concept prototype for a combination Chatbot + Top-Down RPG – a game that uses Natural Language Processing as its primary gameplay mechanic. Using a chatbox, the player must enter commands that Dr. Perl ( a roving computer on a swivel chair) can understand in order to control their movements and complete objectives.
The game is motivated by a desire to teach children, and anyone without a computational background, the frustrations of communicating with a computer in a fun way. As if we didn't have a hard enough time trying to control Siri.
