VitaCoco Commercial Project

My role early on... I started out as the assistant director. My role was to ensure the vision of the script
How my role evolved... My role evolved from being in charge of people to guiding people. I helped people grow their ideas.
So here's the story...
What I learned about commercial production... I learned that the end product is usually going to be extremely different from the initial ideas. This doesn't make the initial idea bad, or the end product a failure. This evolution is all part of the process.
On the set...
My biggest challenge... was definitely stopping and listening to others. It was hard to accept that my idea wasn't necessarily going to be the best. I had a really hard time hearing what the group had to say because I went in thinking my ideas were going to be the best.
Rough Cut...
My biggest growth... was definitely learning to listen to the ideas and opinions of others. I had trouble listening to others, but once I learned to do this, the project really took off and fell into place because the best ideas from all of evolved into the commercial.
The Final Cut...
What I would do differently next time... I would listen to everyone from the start. Not listening to others and wanting to do things my way just put us behind in the project. Listening to the team would have made the project flourish.
