2012 - Gannett Company, Inc.

Interested in entering the "local content" market, Gannett invited a small team of creatives to find a digital solution. The end result was Local.com, a recommendation engine leveraging Gannet's extensive database of local events and venues; serving local fare to tourists and locals alike specific to their taste and location.
Location-based content offers a unique experience in each city.
Creating a free account enhanced the experience by including a set preferences designed to tailor content to their specific tastes in areas such as music, dining, locale or neighborhood, and more.
Events and places displayed as a stream of relevant information, including the ability to give feedback on the event or place. Feedback such as "Like", "Dislike" and "Add to Calendar" helped the recommendation engine to provide the user wimore relevant content in the future.
A comment voting system ala Digg provided the user with "locally trusted content" to  guarantee a real-world experience that the user with enjoy.
