Zoe Reardon, a world languages and business student at Southern Methodist University (SMU), is the recipient of a four-year scholarship known as the Second Century Scholar award. Before enrolling in SMU, Zoe Reardon served as a theater instructor at the Alliance Theatre summer camp in Atlanta, Georgia.

Dedicated to serving youth and promoting an appreciation for theatrical arts, the Alliance Theatre offers multiple theater programs for students of ages. In addition, the Alliance Theatre launched an initiative called the Reiser Atlanta Artists Lab in 2013, which supports artists who are looking for a place to develop and refine new work.

Every year, the theatre puts out an open call for Atlanta artists to submit projects. A panel of judges will select three winning projects to receive $10,000 to fund further development of their work. The winners also gain access to the theatre’s rehearsal spaces and receive support from the organization’s artistic, education, and production staff. The ultimate goal of the Artists Lab is to seed cultural arts projects and help artists achieve full production of their work in the Atlanta area.
