BVW or Building Virtual Worlds is an intense, semester-long course taken by all students at the Entertainment Technology Center. The course gives students randomly assigned into teams two - three weeks to create a virtual world, with new prompts, groups, and platforms each round. At the end, worlds are selected to be showcased in the BVW Festival; one of CMU's most popular attractions catering to hundreds of spectators and professionals.
