Materials used to create the Book of elements
CREATIVE PROCESS

I was planning to create a digitally generated book and print it in a store. However, the limited time did not allow me to execute a good outcome. In this case, I found a really cute set of small dotted books and I thought they will be perfect to make a collage. In my process, I had my own work, magazines and online images as the three sources in my mind. The online images were too broad to categorize, so I decided to include pictures of artwork that was taken at the AGO, Toronto instead.
For the cover titles for each of the elements I decided to create a stereo radio in terms of each elements.  I also wanted to add my own touch to the book rather than leaving the original book on display.
Process work for the cover pages. After I was done with my process work, I realized I used the same title for every font instead of their own. At least, I knew what font style I should be using.
WORK FLOW
First, I started putting the photocopied pictures in an organized manner [image 1 of 3 above]. These pictures included my own work and the photos from the AGO. I put down notes and made a checklist so that I would not loose any of the pictures [image 2 of 3 above].
I also cut images from the magazines and wrote the name of the magazine I got it from in the back of every picture. This helped me to keep track of reference [image 3 of 3 above].
Then I marked what elements these pictures belong to in the back of the pictures as well.
Then I started dividing the pages of the book equally distributed for every element. I used sticky notes to do the labeling.
I started off by filling up the cover pages first so that I can get rid of the sticky notes flying around my desk. The images above are the final out comes of the stereo radio I designed for each elements respectively.
I used a ruler and a pencil to mark the outlines of my cover design for the 6 elements and then used a Fine tip markers to fill them in.
Requirement: I had to include a brief definition of each design element.
Every element required a brief definition as well. I included it behind the cover page and stick a dark blue piece of card stock as if it is underlined. This shows that it is more important and separated from the rest of the collage.
Now I am putting together the pictures on the book.
I began to follow the cover pages and include the images in a form of collage. I made sure I left space to do any writings about the image as well.
When I wrote the brief description for the images, I drew a squiggly line pointing from the image to the writing so that the viewer will not have a hard time matching the write up to the proper image.  In addition, I used a red pen to write my references because I wanted it to be a separate section from the write up.
This is an example of a completed page. I kept repeating the same process to every other elements as well.
Now that I am done completing the book I decided to add few elements to this booklet to allow the viewer follow along the book easily.
I skipped a page in the front and back of the book in order to give the viewer a welcome and a good bye. I wrote "LET'S BEGIN" in the very first page and "THE END" in the last page in a similar font, so that there is a connection between the beginning and the end of the booklet.
Then I put the title in the cover of the booklet using a fine tip sharpie. Firstly, I drew an outline in pencil so that I would not make a mistake and then later filled it in black marker.
Then I added a blue stripe of the dark blue card stock I used to underline the definitions of the elements in the right side of the cover. I did that to cover the writings that came with the original book that had nothing to do with my booklet. I also drew a tiny arrow in the bottom right corner of the blue stripe for the people to lead the direction of the book.
I made the title, "ELEMENTS OF DESIGN", using a variety of typography to give it a designer look and match the original cover.
FINAL WORK
TA DA! FINAL COVER OF THE BOOK IS COMPLETE!
Here are some of the my completed favorite pages from the book.
CONCLUSION

The process of making this book looks really short and sweet in the blog, but it took me about a day to execute a good outcome. However, I think this is a great accomplishment for learners and myself. I can look back to this booklet anytime I need to review the elements of design. The limited time was the only challenge I faced during the process of making this booklet. I think the effort I put into this book in order to help the viewer understand the concepts and details is worth it.
