For this sculpture I started out with drawing what I envisioned what my sculpture would look like. I chose to depict a whale, because of the long flowing lines. Not only am I a fan of art noveau itself, but it seemed appropriate for a sculpture that is based on lines. 

I tried to think of water while sketching the sculpture. And imagined how I could use different wires to depict how water flows over the body of a whale. 

I used a 16 ga wire for the main structure of the body. I used a 20 ga for filling in the body and applying further details.
