Asia Dér's profile

Private Mészöly - documentary, Budapest 2011

Documentary, 80 mins, 2011.

This documentary movie paints a detailed portrait about the most important Hungarian writer of the second half of the 20th century, who was born exactly 90 years ago. His colleagues, followers, friends, witnesses of his private life are talking about Miklós Mészöly's personality and works.
The statements of the most outstanding representatives of the contemporary Hungarian literature are sometimes confessional, sometimes contradictory but always extremely honest.
Mészöly was a permanent child, a "a guy wearing T-shirt, being like your brother", a "beautiful and austere man".
The dramaturgy of the movie imitates the main metaphor of Mészöly's texts: the investigation and accuracy. But in this movie the target of the investigation is Mészöly himself, and who puts the fragments together, is the spectator.
The movie was fully made without any fund.
