Rodeos have long been a popular competitor and spectator sport in rural Australia and were officially organised in the 1880's. Americans and Canadians are many decades ahead of Australia in developing and promoting rodeo as a professional sport and entertainment. Riders saddle broncos or bulls and have one hand strapped for support whilst trying not to be bucked off.
