UKIYO
Packaging take-away
_
The aim of this project was to design the visual identity, brand values and packaging design of a take-away restaurant. UKIYO was born as a traditional Japanese restaurant, specialised in bentos, which reflects the values of respect and awareness to the mealtime.
We got visually inspired by Japanese architect Tadao Ando, who plays with the combination of different natural elements such as the dynamism of the lighting, shadows and the properties of different raw materials.
Our concept was developed through an origami technique, used for the pack structure and also used to highlight the traditional aspect of the Japanese culture, contrasting with a modern graphic identity. Based on Tadao's philosophy, the folds were visible and well displayed enhancing the paper itself without damaging it with ink.
Thanks to the fact of not having used adhesives, it allowed us to play and to transform the pack until it becomes a "mat", which divides both the space and the time of the meal in any location.
