66 days of travelling through ten African countries, more than 18,500 kilometres and 33,000 pictures: Helicopter pilot and adventure photographer Florian Wagner and his team travelled the African continent in order to capture its beauty in spectacular photographs. This resulted in the project »African Waters«, aiming at collecting stories about water and at increasing awareness for a responsible use of this precious resource – for nature, for rare species, but also for humans.
For the publishing house Terra Mater Books by Benevento Publishing, we created a visually stunning book in the extraordinary oversize format of 360 × 238 mm. Flipped open, this amounts to 720 mm of space, on which the aerial photographs can expand optimally. Starting with an »Intro«, the book is split up in ten chapters of the countries and rounded off at the end with a »Making-of«, leading through the entire journey. Through clearly separating text and pictures, combined with a reduced typography, we achieved a clear focussing and a powerful expression of the photographs. The accentuated use of orange and petrol creates a world of colours in harmony with the presented African landscapes.
