Aesthetic Concept - Race Car FORMULA UFSM

Formula SAE is a student competition organized by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Where the objective is to provide Engineering students with the opportunity to apply in practice the knowledge acquired in the classroom, developing a complete project.

A Formula SAE é uma competição estudantil organizada pela Society of Automotive Engineers. Onde o objetivo é propiciar aos estudantes de Engenharia a oportunidade de aplicar na prática os conhecimentos adquiridos em sala de aula, desenvolvendo um projeto completo.

Through a partnership between the Engineering and Industrial Design courses at the Federal University of Santa Maria, a complementary discipline was created, of which the semiannual project was the creation of a new visual concept for fairing the new university car for the competition.

What follows in this project is an aesthetic concept that I created of how a new car could be in the future for an upcoming edition of the event.

As the focus of the work is fairing, all the pieces were modeled on top of a three-dimensional project of the internal structure of the car used by the university in the 2018 edition of the competition.

After a computer analysis of the model and a visit to the workshop where engineering students and professors gather to build the project, I started to sketch sketches for a new idea.

Através de uma parceria entre os cursos de Engenharia e de Desenho Industrial da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria, fora criada uma disciplina complementar da qual o projeto semestral era a criação de um novo conceito visual para a carenagem do novo carro da universidade para a competição.

O que segue neste projeto é um conceito estético que criei de como um novo carro poderia ser futuramente para uma próxima edição do evento.

Como o foco do trabalho é a carenagem, todas as peças foram modeladas encima de um projeto tridimensional de estrutura interna do carro usado pela universidade na edição de 2018 da competição.

Após uma análise do modelo pelo computador e uma visita a oficina de trabalho onde os alunos e professores de engenharia se reúnem para a construção do projeto, comecei a rascunhar esboços para uma nova ideia.

As inspiration and reference, I looked for machines that gave me the feeling of robustness but of speed and lightness at the same time, arriving at the American fighter F-35, with a remarkable symmetry and absence of curves in favor of the stealth function.

Como inspiração e referência , procurei por máquinas que me provocassem a sensação de robustez porém de velocidade e leveza ao mesmo tempo, chegando ao caça americano F-35, com uma notável simetria e ausência de curvas em prol da função stealth.

Interestingly, during the time I worked on the project, Tesla Motors launched the Tesla Cybertruck, with very similar inspirations and styles, the event, internationally commented for the visual difference of the vehicle, added to me the certainty that the concept that worked was also different from the that is usually seen.

Curiosamente, durante o tempo que trabalhava no projeto, a Tesla Motors lançou o Tesla Cybertruck, com inspirações e estilos muito semelhantes, o evento, internacionalmente comentado pela diferença visual do veiculo, me acrescentou a certeza de que o conceito que trabalhava também era distinto do que geralmente é visto.
