Malamuzhakki - giant hornbill November 2019
Doors always open with each new project whether commercial or private. How can they not? In this instance, I became acquainted with a renowned hornbill expert who has dedicated much of her career and expertise to the care and understanding of these amazing birds.

As for the artwork itself, I enjoyed the effect of using a Japanese hand made paper for the dark markings in the feathers, body and tail. Great fun and it elevated the elegance and intrigue in the final result.

- low relief paper sculpture - frame size 28" w x 30" h x 2.5" d
- title "Malamuzhakki" - (mountain shaking) - for the noisy wingbeats as described by aboriginal populations of southern India
