THE BRIEF
This ISTD project called to investigate the minimalist opera - Einstein on the Beach - written by Philip Glass. The task was to make visual typographic music score to celebrate the life and theories of Albert Einstein. This project can be performed without reference to staff notation and is interactive to the viewer to read music and play music without hearing it. My project encompasses three different songs from the play.
THE EXECUTION
The Knee Play, The Train and Trial. Each typographically displayed so that the viewer can actually see the layers of melody, rhythm, numerics and notation within each song. The Score is built in such a way that the viewer can both read the music and then play it by completing the circlet in the fit order.
GLYPHS & SYMBOLS - Instruments, Notes and Musical Symbols
Seen as Sir Albert Einstein was a genius in numerous scientific fields, a clinical and mathematical approach was kept in mind throughout the project's planning and execution phase. For the Circlet and Music Score to synchronize, precision and accuracy was of the utmost importance during the mock-up stage.
I made use of symbols, colors and glyphs to easily read and play the music score without having musical knowledge. This is definitely a challenge and puzzle to be played by both Creatives and Mathematic fanatics.
Thank You!
