ISTD Student Brief / Protest
Typographic exploration of the Pink Tax

"Take a current issue - large or small - and create a campaign of protest."

Following the ISTD Briefing "Protest" I chose to explore and interpret the topic of the Pink Tax and the issue of gender-based pricing. My main goal was to raise the topic to the surface of the public consciousness and spark the protest against it. The content was taken both from a 2015 study on gender-based pricing commissioned by the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs (DCA) and an article published on PsychologyToday called "Is the Pink Tax Ethical?". The full sources for the content are linked below.

The end result is a 60-paged book addressing the reasons why and the consequences of gender-based pricing.

Please note that the pictures below show a hand-crafted prototype, not the final product.
