Brief History of Milton Hershey School
Before beginning his career as a Chicago, Illinois, attorney, Robert Heist graduated from Milton Hershey School in Hershey, Pennsylvania. Today, along with attending to his responsibilities as an attorney, Robert Heist gives back to his alma mater as chair of the school’s board of managers.

Milton Hershey School dedicates itself to providing a rigorous, no-cost, residential education to children from financially disadvantaged backgrounds. Welcoming students from pre-kindergarten to grade 12, the school endeavors to instill skills that will help children reach their maximum potential in all areas of life.

Milton Hershey School traces its history back to 1909, when famed chocolatier Milton Hershey and his wife, Catherine, established a residential school for boys who had been orphaned. Mr. Hershey remained involved with the school until his death, even donating the entirety of his fortune to the institution only 9 years after its inception.

Today, Milton Hershey School continues to operate thanks to a trust created by Mr. and Mrs. Hershey. Through their generosity, approximately 2,000 students each year gain access to a high-quality education at one of the best private schools in the country.
