SECULAR, DISTANT, DREAMY.
When glancing at the stars, we detach our minds from reality, and start to wonder among those millions of sparkling freckles in the dark sky.
But when linked together to form a constellation, any anonymous set of stars can become memorable. Their combination holds a story, not just a name and a place in the universe.
"Beyond the Stars" is a collection of 100 constellations, that goes beyond the known number of 88. It is a series of 100 compositions, each made of three elements: the constellation name, its visual representation, and the spefic meaning it carries.
The twist is in the last 12: I attempted to continue the search of these unique identity marks not in the sky, but on human skin. That's right, I connected skin moles belonging to the arms of some of my friends.
Just like stars, these small dots can identify a person's name and tell something about who they are, something that makes them unique and distinguishable. These constellations, that we all carry with us everyday, can be the beginning of a personal connection to the ones we are used to see in the sky.
