ISLE OF DOG
For this project brief we (a small group of five other) Randomly got to choose the location of the Isle Of Dog. For this Project we had to produce a group project within this area showing the key word of this unit “Connect”.
My group and I want to focus on how people connect within this location.
Initial Idea
These were some of mine and my groups initial idea for the the location of isle of dog. We all googled different club or thing to do around the area to try and show the briefs keyword of connect. We also tried to contact the North Greenwich bowls club as it seemed to be something everyone would be interested in. However when we emailed them they politely said that the season had ended and there wouldn't be anything to photograph.

Research
I also researched about the area and its history to see if it had anything interesting in it past. however not much had come up apart from it us to me mostly marsh land from constant floods. That is until recently when canary wharf become a business hub where the isle of dog became a mostly residential area were the area is much wealther now then before.
Other ideas
Unfortunately the bowls club season had ended so we could not longer use that as our main location. we went back and had another recce trip to the isle of dog and found the Blackwell basin. Me and my group though that this location could be a good idea as we could document the landscape but also take portrait and more documentary style images of the people and there lifestyles as it not a common way of living/housing. But unfortunately like my recce trip documents the area is very blocked of from the public for safety reasons. Which means that we couldn't not contact anyone or even see anyone the three times we went. So again this could not be used as a main location.
Final ideas
After the bowls club and there Blackwell basin unfortunately couldn't be our main locations for our idea of connect. now we went back and looked our other idea we initial looked at and found the space threate. Which we then emailed and asked if they wouldn't be interested in shooting anything within there small cafe and threate building. To me and my groups surprise they said there'd be interested in meeting us and discussing idea were going to have a meeting on the 23rd of October. I think this could be a good main location to use for the brief of connect as we could show many different ways of connection for example like how the actors connect with each other, how the audience and actor connect and even how the cafe and theatre connect with each other. Also the theatre/cafe is a way of a lot different people maybe connect as its open to all.
Final mood boards/Treatments
In class we had a group task of creating a moodpboard and short summary on our two strongest ideas. This however was before we found out that we couldn't shoot the Blackwell basin. So we did that and the space theatre and cafe a long with that idea.
We then went around and gained feedback from each person in every other group about what was good and bad about our ideas. some of the feedback we received was that some of the location we wished to shoot at would be hard to gain access to and also permission to shoot photos at. We had thought of that ourself too which made use try and email anyone we could contact to try and see if we could gain access and permission to shoot at. However I do we where there coming from as many places didn't reply or couldn't allow us access to.
However some good comments we got where that it will show the keyword connect well and also is an interesting and different location to shoot.
