Explanatory Diagram
This is a project exploring the moray eel’s very special tool, limited to two colors with changes in opacity.
I love animals, especially the weird and the obscure ones! The moray eel is definitely one of them, with a second jaw that inspired the Xenomorph in the Alien franchise. A lot of people find them scary, but I am that one person in the crowd that, despite their aggressive nature, really wants to go and pet it.
With this diagram, my main goal was to display the jaw and how it works. Knowing most people don’t like this creature, I wanted to use type and imagery that would make it feel like an analysis document, or an autopsy report, therefore making these two overall feelings work together as one.
