Alliance Theatre Holds Annual Playwriting Contest for MFA Students
The recipient of a four-year scholarship, Zoe Reardon studies business and world languages at Southern Methodist University (SMU). Before enrolling at SMU, Zoe Reardon worked as a theater instructor at the Alliance Theatre summer camp in Atlanta, where she directed children’s performances.

Dedicated to exposing school-age children to theatrical arts, the Alliance Theatre has multiple opportunities for students of all ages to become involved in a theatrical production. One of the programs it organizes in partnership with the Kendeda Foundation is an annual national graduate playwriting competition. Designed to help student playwrights prepare for the realm of professional theater, the Alliance playwriting competition accepts plays from leading MFA programs nationwide.

Using a rigorous selection process, the judges select four finalists and one winning play. The winning submission becomes a full production at the Alliance Theatre. Additionally, the winner and four finalists have the chance to participate in development programs for their plays, including readings with theater professionals.
